"recover" mail folders that were stranded in a user's "mail home" directory when their mail client was reconfigured to point at mail/ as the imap root directory
Sendpage is still acting funky... moved back to the Courier and updated the phone number twice and raised the baud rate to 9600 and modified the init string to include &D3&A0... maybe this time!

Downloading and burning Oracle Collaboration Suite 10.1.2.0 DVD's and CD's...
Oracle revised their response -- the fix is going to be in 9.0.4.2.13...
Wes found an item on the Calendar SDK Forum which described a partial workaround by increasing the number of semaphores available and periodically pruning back the old ones... I've increased the number available, need to research the pruning part
Oracle SR 5170268.992 updated by Oracle to say that the CAPI_STAT_API_POOL_NOTINITIALIZED error is a known issue and it is fixed in 10.1.2.1 -- So, how does one get 10.1.2.1?
Annouce to the team that the ldap wiki pages were updated yesterday
Copy some mail folders between accounts for members of the CATalyst team
Upgrade Openldap on the CATalyst test ldap server (and repair a busted database too)
LDAP -- updating the wrong entry problem caused because SIS added the SSN to an entry (created in August 2005) that matched an employee record (from 2003). Fixed by adding the SIS info into the HRS entry and deleting the duplicated ID (which had never been used for email, web, or file space)
SendPage -- locked up again... appears (from talking with Contact) that it is a local modem issue.
Power cycling the local modem cleared the hang...
Investigating....
Aha! The Courier E.everything does not support the L command to set the modem volume!
Having removed that command from the various init strings, testing appears to indicate the problem is resolved!
Aha! It's still broke....
Well... the Sportster defaulted to X4 and the Courier defaults to X7... perhaps adding X4 to the modeminit string will fix it...
Nope...put the Sportster back in...
Nope...that locked up too... same symptoms...
Call Contact again... oh, they're seeing something strange with ONE of the modems in the bank...
They'll look at their modem and get back to me....
BB - bb-ldap.sh was bastardized in 2003 to not time out and kill off the ldapsearch... I was stupid back then. It has been repaired now, so if yesterday's problem happens again, we will get paged about it!
Conversation with ServerTech salesman... nice product... expensive [sigh]

Preplace the Solaris maintenance files on the WebCT server for Monday's upgrade
investigate ssh failures from new machine... oh... .ssh2 directories from ssh.com and openssh installed on the new machine... hmmm....
Another problem with MAC Labs authenticating with the new version of OpenLDAP... turns out I mistyped a keyword in one of the configuration files so one of the three machines was still offering people SASL mechanisms that were not implemented. Fixed now
Handle a "Student Employee" error in the nightly LDAP update -- Banner did not feed the NID of a student who is now a temporary employee and the NID is the ONLY identifier HR had to send.
Open ORACLE SR 5156603.992 to address inability to REQUIRE TLS support with imap and smtp servers in the outlook connector product

Research Mac OS/X 10.3 ldap authentication issue
Problem is the SASL failure for not being configured has changed from 0x50 to 0x31, which means instead of internal failure, it is now Invalid Credentials -- so the Mac thinks the password was invalid when in reality, SASL is just not configured.
Found setting of sasl-secprops to disable all SASL mechanisms other than GSSAPI
Footprints change to replace the addressbook associated with project 28 did not work. Project 28 is unable to create new issues. Waiting for UniPress to supply next suggestion.

Oracle response to yesterday's information re SR-4947672.993 (UVM FP Issue=18130 Proj=4) is "Thanks, we'll get back to you"
Found the cal_win_9042.exe on the original Calendar 9.0.4.2 client CD and installing that found it to be the correct version.
Sent a note to the customer requesting that they try to install this version and let me know if that works
If it works, I'll place this version back in the software repository with appropriate comments so other people can find it to do an upgrade to version 10

The 30% file size difference caused the feed to abort this morning. However, the number of DN's was almost identical
Discover that the two AD.ldif files are naturally about 30% different in size because of AD attributes that come along and get ignored
Change code to count the number of DN's in each version of the file and abort if the new one has less than 80% or more than 120% of the number of DN's in the old one.
sendpage modem continues to have problems... is it our modem or Contact's modem bank?
IM discussion with FootPrints support concerning an issue open with them
Configure LDAP entry for another CATalyst consultant so the account can be provisioned in AD
Discover and report that the nightly update of information from OpenLDAP into ActiveDirectory deleted all 50480 DN's in Active Directory.
This was caused because slapcat used to retrieve the information out of OpenLDAP was using the default LDAP "database" and that was no longer the correct one. The code was updated to specify which LDAP "database" to retrieve on the slapcat command.
Update the shell script that actually performs the update to abort the process if the file size of the new AD.ldif file is more than 30% different from the file size of the original (AD_old.ldif) file.
Three "Student Employee" errors with graduate students -- all foreign nationals... Sure would help if we had a World Wide Human Identification Number... but all we have is the various National Identification Numbers and the US Government seems to be quite slow at assigning those to foreign nationals who arrive here for classes -- perhaps there is another reason why this particular scenario keeps happening...
WebCT course recovery -- working around a problem with the legato backup system
Update the hourly sql check script to save the information locally on the system and only mail if there are errors in the data gathering
Post announcement of Saturday morning LDAP server upgrade
TRU unable to print to Southwick Canon 3000 printer today... apparently, windows machines were upgraded with new software to print to this thing yesterday and something was changed on the printer to make that work -- but no one remembers what.... Recreated the printer definition as a proper network printer instead of whatever magic it was originally defined with. lpset is my friend.
FootPrints... a project wants to convert their address book to use LDAP... and I've forgotten the steps... open an issue with the vendor
